The Long Island based cable operator said it would pay a quarterly dividend of 10 cents starting in September.


Cablevision Systems posted stronger-than-expected earnings for the second quarter, handily beating back competition for customers, especially telephone company competition.


It is not the first time that the family that controls Cablevision Systems, whose bid to acquire Newsday could lead to a quick deal, has left shareholders and investors scratching their heads.
